Art Maestro!: Featuring Jake Simon Berana

Jake Simon Berana: Batangas’ Art Maestro!

Art is one of the things that give joy and fulfillment to a person's life, it is also a way for him to find life, and the purpose he has in this world. For Jake Simon Berana, 24-year-old Batangueño artist and teacher from Biga Elementary School, Art is his key to sharing his life with everyone. especially to his young students.

Jake’s Life as an Artist

Jake was exposed to the world of art when he was still young. Being an artist is said to be in his family's bloodline, his parents and older uncles are great artists. At a very young age, they introduced young Jake to what art really is and how to love it to the fullest. One of the first things that Jake's parents taught him was the basic fundamentals of drawing, such as shading, sketching, outlining, and so on. When he studied at the Batangas Provincial High School for Culture and Arts, his skills and knowledge in art got improved drastically.

Jake believes that everything is difficult in the beginning, a great example of this is what he experienced when he was just starting out. Because of his burning passion and love for the craft, he continued to learn, he did not stop to strengthen and practicing his God-given talent, and he continued to believe in the blessing of God who gave him the ability to make beautiful works of art.

Because of his love and passion for Art, Jake made it as material to teach children who are also dreaming of becoming future artists. He is currently teaching Arts at Biga ELementary School in Lobo, Batangas. Recently, Jake Simon Berana's Facebook post about his 3rd-grade art class has been trending, attracting attention and love from the public because of his dedication and passion shown to the youth as a teacher and artist.

Art as Jake’s life-changing tool

According to Jake, what inspired him to pursue the field of art and teaching was his parents who first introduced him to art, and God who gave him a unique talent that he now shares with young dreamers. Meanwhile, as a passion, Jake realized that this was the one, when he learned it for the first time. His love for it has never changed since he first held a drawing pencil, since he learned to draw on walls, to now where he himself teaches this type of art to his students. Not only as a forte, but it has also served as his life and tool for changing himself and his outlook on life.

Jake is very grateful to the Lord for the talent he was given. Because of this talent, he was given a purpose in life to share knowledge and wisdom, and he was also given the motivation to continue on the path he is taking as an Art Maestro.

Jake Berana’s advice to young artists

“Just continue to enhance the talent that first loved us. Just pray for wisdom, practice, and glorify God with the talent we have. Our development and improvement will grow continuously as we pursue our dreams in art. Keep going even if you experience discouragements and life challenges. Never, ever give up on making your dreams come true!”
